Thanksgiving Air Travel Breaks Records in 2024

The 2024 Thanksgiving holiday week has set a new benchmark for air travel in the United States. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported 232,000 flights over the week, marking the highest number ever recorded for this time of year. TSA checkpoints saw around 2.7 million passengers daily on the two busiest travel days leading up to the holiday.

Despite the massive number of travelers, disruptions were minimal. Fewer than 0.3% of flights were canceled, and only 1.2% faced delays, reflecting the success of improved airline scheduling and airport operations.
